Startup Genome curators are already leaders in their local startup communities. They organize events, lead clubs and organizations, or support their community in different ways. Many were mapping their local startup scene before Startup Genome was built.

Curator FAQ

  • What's the time commitment? - It varies by city. There is some work up-front to clean-up the data we've already imported for you and get stuff added to your community that's missing, but after that it's a matter of approving new submissions and adding new stuff that pops up in your city.
  • How many curators per city? - As many as needed. Small communities can get by with one or two, while large communities require more. Startup Genome can actually be a great un-biased, neutral tool to help bring your community together. Find other leaders in your community who hear about startups and investors that you might not and ask them to help curate your city too.
  • Can an organization be a curator (instead of a person)? - Yes, although service providers and consulting firms will probably not be approved.
  • What are the benefits of being a Startup Genome curator? - Develop a better understanding of your community, keep a pulse on new startups and investors that join your community, and help your community grow and create new connections to other cities. Also, increase the value of your existing efforts by embedding Startup Genome maps on your other websites.
