In 2011, I co-founded StartupGenome.com, which aims to be the largest, most accurate database in the world of startup ecosystems. Through a network of local volunteer curators who care about their city's startup culture, we're tracking founders, startups, investors and community organizations in every city in the world, layering-in filters and visualizations to make the data accessible and useful for entrepreneurs of all types, and making all of it available for free.
As Director of Marketing and Community at Kohort.com - a venture-backed startup based in NYC - I help group organizers and community managers grow their groups and better engage their communities. I also run Kohort's online marketing, consumer sales, customer service, and social media activities.
Prior to Kohort, I was the COO of Startup Weekend, a non-profit that hosts intense weekend-long events challenge web developers, designers and marketers to build and launch brand new tech startups in under 54 hours. Starting as a volunteer, I became COO and helped Startup Weekend build the operational infrastructure and volunteer training program needed to expand from 50 events per year to nearly 150/year in 100 countries. I still volunteer at Startup Weekend as one of their most active global facilitators.
In my free time I hang out with my wife (who's a Doctor and Captain in the Air Force) and my dog Truman (named after Truman State University where I met my wife).
